Digit Motherboard
Digital Photo Frames
Before digital photo frames were invented, or possibly after they were invented but before they were readily available, some wise man built himself his very own digital frame by using an LCD screen and a computer motherboard behind it. He mounted this on his wall and hid the wires inside the wall and was able to use a screensaver program to view his pictures. Basically, he mounted an entire computer to the wall and only used it as a picture frame.
This doesn’t have to be the way to do this anymore. Now, you can buy a digital picture frame that will work much like his digital frame screen saver, for much less than the cost of building an entire computer and mounting it on the wall.
You will lose the ability to do other things that a computer would do but of course, if you wanted to do other things with the LCD photo frame, you should probably consider buying something else that will do what you need it to do. The LCD photo frames are just that – they are for photos. Some may play videos but most are mainly for swapping images in a slide-show format or playing one continuous image for your viewing pleasure. Not only are they much more inexpensive than the do-it-yourself version but they are also much smaller in width and thickness, allowing you to put them just about anywhere that a normal photo frame would go. The homemade version had the thickness of an LCD screen plus the thickness of all of the motherboard components to deal with.
