single button on the pad: boring! My little literal pain after using something for two hours. Synaptics has been programmed for double click and the problem is solved. Good stock and an increase in neck-up and down with features. Easy to use and very useful. Can not live without pads now …
thin very thin layer beneath the keyboard does not get me wrong, the actual size of the keyboard is great outside, but it bends when I’m writing and making me very nervous. The content is not enough to hold the keys, but I think this is the way to reach your desired weight … or so I like to think.

Great sound from the microphone, I made a video for a friend outside the 17th floor of a busy lunch in Santiago and the sound is surprisingly good.

Works Great With Ubuntu, Plays Flash Well
I was very impressed when I got this laptop. My previous one was a netbook, an MSI Wind u100. I decided to upgrade because I wanted a faster processor and bigger screen, but I also didn’t want to lug around a 6 lb laptop around either, so after doing research I settled on this computer.
My Requirements (Pros):
Works with Ubuntu Linux – the only issue is that the screen sometimes flickers at random; there is a fix, but it involves losing some battery life, which is approximately 4 to 5 hours with Ubuntu, scaling the cpu frequency down to 800mhz. Otherwise, it is more like 2 1/2 hours.
Plays Hulu video well – I haven’t tried 720p as I really don’t care, but 360p and 480p run great even without hardware acceleration as it’s not available for linux. The MSI Wind couldn’t play hulu video very well.
Screen resolution is greater than 1024 by 600 – the bottom of the some windows would hang off the edge which I found annoying. The 1366 by 768 resolution is much better, but I still encounter the same problem (but less frequently – one or two programs).
I was considering the Acer Aspire 1810t as it had more ram, bluetooth, and a higher capacity battery, however I noticed the arrow keys on the keyboard were “smooshed” so that was a dealbreaker for me. The keyboard on the Asus ul20a is great! I don’t really need Bluetooth and the computer runs fine with 2gb of ram. (Plus it was cheaper.)
I also have no need for an internal DVD drive and use an external one whenever I need it.
I don’t have any problems with the touchpad so far, but I’ve only used it a few times. Most of the time I’m using an external mouse.
Cons:
Lower capacity battery – I would much rather have had a higher 5600mAh battery, even if that meant paying extra. My battery life is not much improved over the Wind.
Glossy Screen – when I first got the laptop I had a hard time dealing with the screen being reflective as I am used to matte screens like on the Wind. However, over the past week and a half I’ve gotten used to it, so it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as it did. That said, I think I would still prefer a matte screen.
Overall, I would recommend this computer and I’m very happy with it despite the cons.

I am not angered by this notebook computer
So maybe nothing about this computer has made me smile or given me pleasant tingly feeling. But in nearly half a year of using it for work, I’ve also never once felt the urge to fling it out the nearest window–though I suspect it would fly well. For me, this lack of frustration is something. Perhaps a first.
The size is about perfect for what I use it for: writing, email, and Skype with the fam while traveling, or as an occasional backup to my desktop PC at home. I’d been using a 15 inch machine, which I always found somewhat cumbersome for travel. This’n is far, far easier to haul around. When I switched, for a few days the screen felt a bit small to work comfortably on, but now I’m used to it. Turning on the disappearing taskbar helped by creating more vertical screen real estate. The keyboard is quite roomy and good.
Battery life lives up to its billing. I use ASUS’s proprietary Power4Gear power settings to maximize battery life, and I’m pretty sure I’ve gone longer than 7 hours.
I’m also impressed by Windows 7. The computer has never yet crashed. With the caveat that I have never done any hardcore computing on this thing, it has been a perfectly serviceable and pleasant tool so far. Good job, Asus.
